The Weather in Costa Rica!
The weather plays an important part in your vacation planning! Why travel to Costa Rica to play
golf
if it is the rainy season or why plan on going
"white water rafting"
during the dry season?
Fortunately, the weather in Costa Rica is fairly predictable. The "rainy season" runs between April and December. The "dry season" is between May and November. Some of the country's cooler temperatures, however, can occur during the early days of the "dry season".One of the reasons that Costa Rica's "Gold Coast" is so popular with visitors is because it is sunnier and drier than other areas of the country.
The "Gold Coast" is located in the Northwest area of Costa Rica in the province of Guanacaste. Even in the dry season when the temperatures reach up into the nineties, this part of the country experiences cool winds blowing in off the Pacific Ocean. Due to the steady breezes, the beaches of Guanacaste are popular with wind surfers and para-sailing enthusiasts. The capitol city, San Jose, is located in the mountains of Costa Rica in a region known as the "meseta central". The temperatures here are temperate year round. Even though there is a distinctive wet and dry season the temperatures are never too hot nor does it ever get too cold. Please be advised, if you are going to be spending part of your vacation in this part of the country make sure you bring along a light jacket or sweater for the evenings.
The weather on the Caribbean side of the country is typically tropical. That means it can be quite hot and humid in this region of the country. This part of Costa Rica also has an abundance of tropical rain forests and a wide variety of wild life. One nice thing about Costa Rica is it has several mountain ranges and so you are never to far from the temperate weather found in higher elevations. When traveling in the mountains make sure you have rain gear especially during the wet season. The warm tropical
can provide you with relief from the cold and snow of a long winter! After you decide where you where you want to visit in Costa Rica and what you want to do; it is suggested that you check the weather for that area and for that time of year before making your final Costa Rica vacation plans.
