El Remanso Rainforest Wildlife Lodge!For those that really want to get away from the hustle and bustle of normal daily life, El Remanso Rainforest Wildlife Lodge is the ideal destination resort! This unique eco lodge is located on the Osa Peninsula on Costa Rica's southern Pacific Coast. It is halfway between the town of Puerto Jimenez and Corcovado National Park. 
El Remanso is located on 140 acres of tropical rain forest and is within the 7,500 acre Osa National Wildlife Refuge. This wildlife refuge protects a biological corridor to Corcovado Natonal Park and Cabo Matapalo. Because the lodge was built in the rain forest you will come face to face with the abundant wildlife that you will find living on the Osa Peninsula. You will see and hear at least three different kinds of monkeys, many species of tropical birds, including red macaws, eagles and parrots. You will also come across peccaries, anteaters, reptiles and if you are fortunate an occasional large wild cat. Travel Tip! There are poisonous snakes that live in the rain forest! Use caution and stay on the designated trails! The accommodations at El Remanso consist of comfortable cabins and houses built out of native fallen wood. No trees were cut down in order to build this pristine eco resort. Sustainable practices are used to operate the lodge and restaurant. 
There are many nature trails on the 140 acres surrounding El Remanso. The resort provides its own naturalist to help you explore the adjoining rain forest with its wide array of wildlife and tropical fauna.The Pacific Ocean is within walking distance as well. Enjoy the tide pools at low tide. It is like having your own private hot tub! Also, take a romantic walk along the secluded beach and enjoy an evening sunset together. In addition to hiking there are many other activities available to guests at El Remanso. Enjoy horseback riding in the rain forest or zip lining high above the forest floor or repelling down a waterfall. In addition you can go birding, wildlife watching or take a marine turtle tour. You can even swim with the dolphins, go sea kayaking in the Golfo Dulce (Sweet Gulf), go surfing or sport fishing. A short walk up the nearby river is a waterfall. Enjoy the fresh water cascading from high above the river. 
One of the highlights of your stay at El Remanso Rainforest Wildlife Lodge will be the food! It can be described as being fresh and light. Fruits and vegetables are used extensively by the lodge's chefs. Much of the fruit is grown right on the premises. Fresh fish from local fishermen is also served along with local fruit juices. Vegetarian dishes are also served. The chefs will accommodate any special dietary needs you may have.The restaurant is elevated and is open with views of the surrounding rain forest.
